Default Problem installing ERXP

Hello everyone!

I had to format my PC/win7x64. Now that I want to reinstall pro tools and EXRP on my computer I'm kind of stuck.

When I run the EXRP to update files in pro tools, after typing my Serial Number and System ID, I get the following message:

"You Have Reached The Maximum Allowed Activations For This Serial Number.
Allowed Seats for this Serial Number: 1
Currently Activated Seats: 1
Attempted Amount: 1
"

I understand that EXRP can only be installed on one computer, but in my case it's the very same computer with hard drive formatted and OS reinstalled.

Anyone have an idea of what I may do to fix this issue?

Thanks

It may physically be the same computer, but you formatted the hard drive, so you completely deleted the hidden files that are installed on your PC when you first ran the ERXP, those files are what lets the Firmware updater know that it is an authorized PC.

That said, if you already updated the 11R itself with the ERXP and firmware 2.0.1 is already installed on the 11R, there is no reason to ever run the Firmware updater again.

You can run the 11R Window GUI updater for PT on any computer, as many times as you want, without inputting any serial number.

So if you already got to the Firmware updater, then the GUI files have already been updated.

This is all described here:

You are right no need to do activation again. I retried and the gui files for pro tools got installed this time.

Now pro tools with EXRP is working

Thanks for you reply I thought I was getting crazy not be able to run pro tools since I upgraded to EXRP.

I have the same problem when upgrading the firmware from 2.0.0 to 2.0.1

"You Have Reached The Maximum Allowed Activations For This Serial Number.
Allowed Seats for this Serial Number: 1
Currently Activated Seats: 1
Attempted Amount: 1 "

The installation and authorization is done on a different computer which has crashed so I cannot use anymore.
I've read somewhere I should contact Avid Customer Support, but I cannot find the e-mail adress of customer support. I only can find some phone numbers.
Is there a way to contact Avid support by mail, or do I have to call them.

Here's my dilemma: I run PT HD on a Mac that is not and never will be connected to the internet. I do have a PC for home use (no PT installed) that is connected to the internet. How can I install the ERXP and update the firmware? Can I install the updater on both machines (thereby allowing me to authorize the update over the internet) and then use it with my Mac system?

Thanks,
Beans

You must use the ERXP 2.0.1 updater on the SAME computer that 2.0 was used on when you typed in the Serial Number for the Firmware updater. That info get stored in a hidden folder. If you try to use the 2.0.1 updater to update the firmware on a different pc, then you will need a new Serial Number.

If the pc you originally used is no longer usable, or has been formatted or a new OS has been installed, then you will need to contact Avid Support and get a new serial number.

Once the firmware is updated to 2.0.1, you will never again have to update the firmware (barring a 11R hardware failure of course), so you will not have to use the serial number again. The FIRST part of the ERXP that updates the 11R GUI window can be used on any computer - no serial number needed.

IMHO, they need to just include the new GUI files with the next update of PT

This is all explained here:

Thats not a dilemma at all, Its very simple.

Just update the 11R Firmware on another Computer that is connected to the internet. That is the computer that will be tied to the ERXP FIRMWARE updater serial number. However, once your 11R firmware is updated, you will never need to run the firmware updater again.

The FIRST part of the ERXP can be used on any computer, with no serial, as many times as you want - in order to update the 11R GUI files in PT.

So update the Firmware on the Internet computer. Once updated, take the ERXP installer to your HD rig (or any other computer you need to use the updated 11R window on) and run the ERXP. It will install the updated GUI files first, and place the Firmware updater on your desktop. Since your firmware is already updated, just delete the file. Now your HD rig will have the updated GUI files, test it out, and have fun.

Eleven Rack Expansion Pack (ERXP) FAQ

Make sure you have the driver you need on the computer you will use to update the 11R.

and make sure you are using the most up to date version of Pro Tools.

Make sure you update to the latest version of PT BEFORE you run the ERXP to update the GUI files, if you do it in reverse, you 'may' need to re-run the ERXP again to get the update GUI files back.
