Default Problem with 88es MIDI controller since move from 10 to 11

I had to have a USB port replaced in the 88es, but I had it working yesterday.

Today nothing. Can't see any playing in Instrument or MIDI track. 11 doesn't want to see the ES88 today.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Ty Ford

If you mean the Yamaha Motif es8, I have that same keyboard and was never able to get midi in/out via the USB connection(I thought that was strictly for editing with the software that came with the keyboard). Never had an issue using the MIDI connections thru either the interface MIDI ports(Digidesign 003) or thru a USB>MIDI adapter box(MOTU FastLane USB 2x2).

In all cases, the keyboard needs to be configured under the Setup>Midi>Midi Studio page(which might have been defaulted during the install of PT11).

Having said that, I also have to offer this opinion: Because PT11 doesn't use ANY of the previously-installed plugins(due to the change to AAX64), my preference for moving to 11 is to start fresh with a clean install of OS, Pro Tools and all plugins(not installing the AAX32 or RTAS versions that PT11 can't use). This eliminates a ton of useless files from your system drive. In fact, in this kind of upgrade, I would remove the old system drive(with PT 10 and all the old plugins) and install a new system drive for all the new versions. Doing this allows you to swap in the old system drive in the event that you need to rework an old session that may not open in 11 due to plugin changes(IOW, some PT10 plugins are different in PT11 and older sessions may require some fussing with newer plugins).

Hello Dave.

The Keyboard controller I'm having difficulty with is an M-Audio 88es, not a Yamaha.
