Default Upgrade From Pro Tools LE (Windows XP) to 10 (Windows 7)

Music Retailers told me I should contact AVID about if the cross-grade upgrade (Pro Tools LE to Pro Tools 10) works cross platform.

I have Pro Tools LE on a Windows XP machine. I would like to upgrade it to 10 on a Windows 7 Machine. Pro Tools LE does not and will not install on my Windows 7 (64-bit) computer, and thats fine, I need to upgrade anyway.

Please advise.

Thanks!

Not a problem. The Crossgrade is a full installer so you don't have to have your previous version installed. Just install 10 on the new computer.

Related to this question, though on the Mac side, if I want to upgrade from PT 8 LE (which came with MBox2 mini) to PT 10, what will be the proof of eligibility for the upgrade to install?
With PT 8 LE, I had to have the MBox plugged in as verification. I checked my iLok, it has no registration information about PT 8 LE.
I also never apparently registered PT 8 LE with the Avid site. I show that I registered a light version of Melodyne that came with my PT 8 LE.

This is a question for which the answer can save me $300. If I can do the upgrade, it's $399. If I can't prove ownership (and there's no explanation I can find that shows how verification is done), then I'll have to buy the full version at $699. It's not my money, you understand, it's being purchased for my church.

Thanks for any help you can give.

I don't know if my signature has been updated, but I'm currently running OS 10.8 on a 2011 iMac (i5 3.1 gHz, 16 gig RAM).

Pretty sure the number required for the crossgrade/upgrade is the srial number from the Mbox 2. I also believe that the original Mbox is not applicable to the upgrade.
