Default Optical not working

I finally bought Pro Tools 12 after being out of the game for several years. Everything works with my Digi002 as it used to except the optical in. I'm using a Presonus Digimax FS and the channels all still work at the hardware level (clip indicator blinks at max volume) but nothing shows up in my sessions from ADAT. I set everything to default in the hardware tab as well as in the I/O...looks fine in there, but still nothing.

Much more info needed.

Mac System? OS Version? Digi 002 Driver version?

Session sample rate? (and are you trying to match the ADAT rate to that?)

What clip indicator are you talking about? On what box? (or in the Pro Tools 12 UI?)

Optical IO is set to S/PDIF or ADAT on the 002?

Post screenshots of IO>Setup>Input.

Mac System? OS Version? Digi 002 Driver version?

--MacBook Air, mid-2012, OS 10.12.3. I'm not sure the Digi002 driver version; I downloaded it a few weeks ago.

Session sample rate? (and are you trying to match the ADAT rate to that?)

--The session sample rate is 44.1, which matches the indication on the 002 and on my Presonus

What clip indicator are you talking about? On what box? (or in the Pro Tools 12 UI?)

--The clip indicator I'm referring to is the one on the channel of my Presonus Digimax FS, indicating that the pre amps are function on that unit.

Optical IO is set to S/PDIF or ADAT on the 002?

--Do you mean on the physical unit? I don't see the switch.

Post screenshots of IO>Setup>Input.

Macbook Air 2012. Os 10.12.3. Not sure the digi 002 driver; I installed it a few weeks ago.

The session sample rate matches what the 002 and the presonus indicates: 44.1

The Clip indicator i'm referring to is located on each of the 8 channels of my presonus Digimax FS.

I don't see a control toggle on the 002 unit for switching between S/PDIF or ADAT...

see attached image. Thanks for your help. Pretty at wits' end with this one.

Default Optical not working

The clip indicator on the Digimax tells you very little useful info. Certainly not if the signal is getting out its optical port. A clip indicator on the 002 (LED ring) would have shown complete signal flow into Pro Tools.

Using the hardware setup menu to configure ADAT and S/PDIF is described in the 002 documentation. Start there.

I would test if the coaxial S/PDIF works if still stuck, just to see if any of its digital IO works. test the Toslink cable out elsewhere or swap for a known good one. And check in both Toslink connector ports for debris. Dust caps etc. jammed in there are not uncommon.

You should work out how to find the driver versions you have installed, at a lowest level the Mac kextstat tool will tell you.

A 002 driver on macOS Sierra, I am not sure how well that works, certainly not supported by Avid. And a MacBook Air would not be my first choice for a DAW.

In hardware setup, clock source should be optical and optical format should be adat.

Update: I cleaned the optical jacks and got a new cable and we're back in business. Thanks everyone for chiming in, your expertise is greatly appreciated.
