Never had any of the issues you describe and I have 3 PCs that share. If you have W10 Pro, use Group Policy Editor to completely turn off updates.

Ok I’ll look into group policy editor. But I’ve been through all the settings I could find and it didn’t give me any option I could find to kill updates completely.

Vaguely interesting aside:

While researching a 2019 Mac Pro I thought out of due diligence I should look at an Avid qualifies HP workstation. I already have a Z series for streaming samples and it’s been a trooper.

Anyways I was on the US HP site a few months the ago and there was a claim on the Z series product page that Avid uses them for software development which surprised me.

Shouldn't be that surprising - what would you think Avid used? A proper HP comp with all the crapola removed is killer.
