Default Delayed Quicktime playback through Core Audio Card

I am running ProTools 8.0.3 with Mac OS 10.5.8

When I try to use Quicktime Player routed through the Digi Sound Card there is a long pause before playback starts. This does not occur it I playback through my Mac's internal speakers. However, that is not a work around solution for me.

Any suggestions?

Dennis
