Don't need that over here in the UK, because, we are protected under: The Consumer Rights act 2015. Thats how I got the Flash Storage replaced for free.

Over here we are protected by the above law for six years.

Interesting... Why would you say that, what are the symptoms?

Everything seems to work and function correctly (videos, games, internet in general, etc.)

The fans only come on when the GUI is present onscreen. It is crazy!

Thanks

Well now...They are going to have to replace this, aren't they?

Speaking of which: I have always had a bad 'image persistence problem' with this iMac (see two attachments, after 10 minutes of exposure). YES that is image persistence!

When I first got this iMac, I complained at the time that it was not functioning as it should be.

Everything on this iMac needs to be addressed immediately!

I can’t work like this anymore and, it is becoming very difficult.

I really need to ask this question - so forgive me for sounding like an idiot.

Would certain plug-ins in 'Pro Tools' contribute to the iMac fans generating HEAT and sounding like a vacuum cleaner?

Because... At this moment, the fans are *Blaring* and *Heat* is dissipating from the back-vent... Even though this process is happening, if I temporarily obscure the 'Pro Tools GUI' with a window (in this example: This very DUC page is completely obscuring the GUI), the fans will gradually quieten and the heat will cool. Eventually there is silence!

However, the moment the GUI window is visible onscreen - the fans start gradually cranking out the noise and heat... Until it is going 'full throttle'

It is 'absolutely mental' why this process - behaves like this - and causes this outcome.

Frankly, it is very worrying!

WHY? HOW?

That is the weirdest issue I have heard in quite some time ...

Something has to be wrong inside somehow. Why would the DUC window produce more or less heat and fan noise than a PT window for example!?

Sorry that was a Typo... I meant GUI

I have corrected that, as of now.

In this example... I have used the DUC page as an example! It could literally be anything, any window, from any webpage. Even obscuring the Pro Tools GUI with the 'activity monitor window' will affect the fans.

See the two attachments: The first example is the Mix window onscreen (fans are extremely noisy and hot). The second example is the DUC window, in the process of completely 'obscuring' the mix window. (the fans will gradually 'die' down, when the Mix window is not seen onscreen)

Thanks man. This problem has been very hard to explain.

EDIT//: I must emphasise that Pro Tools was playing on a continual loop - throughout every example - I have elaborated on.

In the mean time...

At the moment, PT is running through a session - and I have minimised the Edit window and Mix window to 'Dock' - iMac Fans are very, very quiet, almost non-existent and there is a slight, gentle 'trickle of air' filtering through the back vent. The back panels and stand are 'cool to the touch' - very nice! In fact: It is so tranquil and lovely...

But hold on a minute...! I have maximised the Edit and Mix window FROM the 'Dock' to ONSCREEN. Now, there is a furnace of hot air, bellowing, and thrusting out the back vent like some kind of 'industrial strength 'Flame-thrower' my room is now hotter and, I can feel myself starting to sweat profusely from the change in temperature. The back stand and panels now feel like 'they have just come out of a 'blacksmiths forge' I am now hot and irritable - and worried.

Time for this to happen (Cool to Hot): 1 Min
