Default marker numbers - can they be automatically re-numbered?

Is there a better way to auto re-number markers other than the export - import midi trick?

Hey, Matt,

I don't know of any easy way to auto renumber the markers, but what's the export - import midi track?

Click once in the marker ruler, select all, cut and paste... unless I don't understand what you want.

Create a MIDI track. Right-click on it, export MIDI. Do a Save As for Safety. Delete all markers. Import MIDI. Markers come back in renumbered in chronological order.

That keeps the same numbering. See post above.

In the Marker Window you can change the number to something that is not taken. With a little planning, you can renumber them the way you want. Tedious. Slow. But it is a way to renumber a few. If you need to do a lot, then you need to do the export/import MIDI trick.

Nice tricks those. Do you have to use a midi track? Can you not just delete the markers and re-import them from the session-file you have open without saving over it before? Or will it only work via midi?

frank.

Yes, I see now that it only works if they already are in descending order. I usually create too many markers from a given demo track, and typically have to consolidate a couple verses when the talent comes in, and delete some of the markers. Then it works.

Thanks.

Hi Frank,

It only works with MIDI. If you import from another session, it retains the same number as the session of origin. Pity. Would be nice to have a feature that did this. But, to be honest, I do this so infrequently, the MIDI Export/Import trick is fine for me.

They previewed this at NAMM, and I've heard rumors that it should be coming in the next release, but can't confirm that.
