Question Pro Tools 8 Users, are you stable ?

Hi there !

I bought 3 years ago the Mac Pro Nehalem with PT HD 8 and C|24.
At the beginning I had a lot of problems, PT was crashing, C|24 following ...
I had to wait PT update and switch to Snow Leopard 1 year after for my problems to disapear.

Now problems are coming back with my mac freezing and audio making a loop play of 2 sec. I'm going to fix it (no reason it worked and not anymore !) but I was thinking it would be great if each PT HD 8 user here was giving his PT version with OS version and if some issues was known.

Ugo

And again, sorry for my english, i'm a french pussy !

Other question :

If I have 10.6.8 (last version), what I have to instal exactly ?
PT 8 (first version) and directly 8.0.5 ? It says I have to instal 8.0.3 before is that right ?

Running 8.0.1cs2 on an old G5. Runs absolutely beautifully. Have had only one crash. Smooth and snappy for recording and editing (am using an external FW Glyph drive).
Pro Tools is slow when using a couple of instances of elastic audio. However, I still prefer the beat detective (sonically) anyway.
The only thing that doesn't work too well is using Melodyne in larger sessions. For vocal tuning I use my MacBook Pro i7. Everything else I do on my trusty old G5 in PT 8 HD.

Hope this helps.

And 8.1.1 requirements are 10.6.7 (not 8) if I'm right !
Thx for this info !

Problems from my Nehalem came from my graphic card ...
So I was working on 10.6.5 with 8.0.4.
It was pretty good ...

I would stay away from 8.1 and stick to 8.0.5.

I understood 8.1.1 was done for new I/O hardware.
8.0.5 may do the job without drivers for this new hard = less problems !

I don't know exactly what's wrong with my graphic card, I have a 2008 Mac Pro at home and when I changed the graphic card : no more freezes.
And also I have a second monitor at the studio wich wasn't recognized anymore.

8.1.1/10.6.7 here on a MAC Pro 2007. 99% stable.
3 or 4 silly bugs, some freezes of a/z functions. Just close and reopen and it is fine.
