Default Sweetwater Deal on HD upgrade/renew lapsed plan $799

Thoughts on the current sale. I’m on HD11, have not upgraded over the last few years, I guess I’m wondering if the $200 off is enough to inspire me to upgrade considering I’ve not been overly impressed with some of the new features, but I keep hearing rumors the next update will be big, but I’ve heard that in the past.

I'm considering going this route for the same price. This would give me an additional license and I could keep my 12.2 perpetual license as is.

I don’t think that’s for a perpetual license, I think it just gives you HD for a year, if you don’t pay it again, your license expires.

Sorry for my confusion.

I meant I keep my existing perpetual license on 12.2 and instead of putting that license on the annual subscription for $799, I get a new, second license on an annual subscription for $799, and keep my "old" perpetual license so I can run HD on multiple machines at once.

My understanding of the subscription model might be all wrong, though.

The question is, what price do you have to pay at the end of the year?

I'm looking at getting HD, but not if I have to pay $1900 the next year.

If you don't let the subscription lapse, it should be just $399 the following year(s).

Just checked with Sweetwater. The $799 deal gives you a year, but the re-up is back to $999 for subsequent years.

why in the world would pay $800 every single year to rent HD when you can own it and not have to rent it for a little bit more

There are two different options at Sweetwater. One is to yearly subscribe to HD where you pay $999 a year every year in the same way the you can pay $25 a month for Vanilla, or whatever the cost is. Both options, you never own PT.

Them there is another item you can buy which is specifically the “Reinstatement” option where you pay $799 and then pay $399 a year just like existing HD users do that are on the plan already.

Based on your initial post, I assumed you meant this.

If it is just a code that you would be purchasing, one strategy would be to buy it now on sale and wait until such time when Avid introduces some feature(s) you needed before you activate it, so that your 1-year clock starts ticking at that point in time.

But I would check first to make sure that it is just a code (independent of the purchase date) that can be activated at a date of your choosing.
