M-Powered 8 won't open all of the sudden.
I bought M-Powered 8 and a ProFire 610 a month ago, and up until yesterday, it all worked flawless. Now when I click on the M-Powered icon in my iMac Dock (I'm running Snow Leopard) to open Pro Tools, the icon will just bounce up and down for a minute then just stop without anything opening. I tried going through all the troubleshooting tips stickies at the top of this forum, but it still hasn't helped. I have the error report, but I don't know exactly what I'm looking at to tell me what the problem is:

Re: M-Powered 8 won't open all of the sudden.
Do you have automatic updates on with the imac?

I'm not sure, where do I go to check?

Re: M-Powered 8 won't open all of the sudden.
Go to the apple icon top left corner of your screen, system preferences then click on software updates and uncheck "automatically update" or something like that. I don't have my mac turn on at the moment.

Re: M-Powered 8 won't open all of the sudden.
Ok I found it and turned off the automatic updates. I currently have uninstalled M-Powered, so what's the next step, reinstalling it and seeing if it opens? Another question, when I do the install, it asks if I want to install the Digi IO driver, should I install that too even though I use a M-Audio ProFire as my interface?

Re: M-Powered 8 won't open all of the sudden.
I would install the IO driver. Have the m-audio device ready incase PT wants you to hook it up while pt installs.

Re: M-Powered 8 won't open all of the sudden.
Well I reinstalled it, and same thing happened. The icon will bounce for a minute then stop, and that's it. I'm starting to get a little worried now. I have a program called AppDelete that I can delete all traces of Pro Tools and Digi from my computer, should I use that to erase everything and reinstall it all like I was starting from the beginning?

Re: M-Powered 8 won't open all of the sudden.
If you used the software update and your system updated, then you will need to go out to apple and download the combo update for whatever version of MAC OS X you have upgraded to. For example if you are at 10.6.2 then you need to download and install this;
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL959 Hopefully that should fix your bouncing icon.

Re: M-Powered 8 won't open all of the sudden.
I checked my list of what I had installed on Snow Leopard, and I already had installed that update. ^^^

Re: M-Powered 8 won't open all of the sudden.
Bradch00 maybe right on this. Go to his link and download the combo update and apply it your OS as appending updates won't work with PT. I just discussed this on another thread with another user and they downloaded the combo update and viola it works for them. So I 2nd Bradch00 suggestion. EDIT: Even though you may show you're already running 10.6.2 doesn't mean that is was applied by the combo update. THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT THAT IT IS APPLIED THIS WAY. When Digi announced this years back they meant it.
