Default New MacBook Pro keyboard and PT8.

I spent all my afternoon trying to find out how to get the numeric pad functions in Pro Tools 8 and I haven't found anything working on OSX 10.5.6.

I really don't want to buy an external numpad but I'm ready to use a remapping application if you know one that works on this OS.

How dumb Mac can be to remove the embedded keypad from their new laptop? That's seriously unprofessional. Is there any other way in Pro Tools to use Apple+1, Apple+2, timecode features, loop playback, record, etc rather than using the trackpad and click in the menu?

Thank you so much.

Have you explored this? - the defacto re-mapping utility for Macs?:

Yes I did but it doesn't suit my requirements. I actually found out more and found QuicKeys which allows to remap your keyboard as you wish.

As I'm missing a num pad, I added a shortcut (ie. "Apple" + "1") for the Keystroke "Apple" + "Keypad 1" and so the same thing for the rest of the num pad.

Pro Tools has a great feature with the markers and all the things you can do with the window configurations, groups etc (ie. type on num pad . 1 . and you go to Marker 1 or . 2 . for marker 2 etc).

I can add shortcuts in QuicKeys for each figure ("Apple" + "." + 1" for keystroke . 1 .). But imagine when I have hundreds of markers... That's impossible.

So my question is:
Is there any other way to jump to markers with the keyboard without any num pad?

Jedi - put this question in one of the more prominent forums where it's more likely to be viewed by the hardcore (and moderators) ...

No, there isn't.

This may help, though:

KeyReMap

Oh PERFECT!
Way better than QuicKeys which doesn't use the FN key! Thanks a lot!

Thank you Digidesign moderators.

The program is actually not really convenient. You cannot use your own shortcuts as quickeys can. But Quickeys doesn't support FN key... :-(

If anyone knows how to get this kind of embedded keypad into the keyboard, please leave a msg here...

I bought a generic num pad, and I can use it with Open Office, but it doesn't work with Protools. Each time I try a shortcut, Protools display "This operation clears selected regions".
As I'm not so old in MacOS X and Macbooks Pros world, is there something to do to make this num pad work with Protools ?

Thx

JM
