Default Getting Started with PT 8

Just to start. Let me say i have close to no experience what so ever with Pro Tools. I purchased 8.0 on eBay with a authorization code mailed to me with a disc. The files how ever don't look like they contain an installation and burning Them as an ISO didn't work either. And also heard that you need hardware to even run the program in the first place. I had only planned on messing around with structure le. But now I'm so confused. What are my options for m- boxes. (Windows 7 64 bit)

Sadly, you're in a tough spot here. LE8 does indeed require an Mbox(NOT the original because you are on Win7, and that requires 8.0.5)or 002/003. Then there is the 8.0.5 update, which you will need to download. Then you will need the proper installer(which I'm not sure you have). The ISO file would be used to burn a disk. The install process is a little tricky with Windows 7. If you happen to get all the required bits together, here's the install method. Start with the Mbox disconnected(or 002/003 connected but powered OFF). Run the LE installer and, when the installer asks you to connect the interface, DO NOTHING. Just click Okay and let it finish and reboot. Next, run the 8.0.5 updater and DO connect(or power ON) the interface when asked. Another reboot and then right-click on the PT icon>select properties>and find the check box for Always Run as Admin and Disable Desktop Composition(check both). Then open Pro Tools and have the authorization code handy(the one that starts with "DIGI08......". Note that after the word DIGI, all the rest of the letters are lower case(so 0 is the number zero) and there will be some spaces, which MUST be included. Good luck
