Default ProTools v11 and OSX 10.10 "Yosemite"

We're currently in the process of installing 6 new Mac Pro (2014) "Trash Cans" which were shipped with OS X 10.10 "Yosemite", and we want to know what the hangup with Avid's release of a certified version of PT v11. Version v11 has been out for some time, with Yosemite coming out during the early summer, and most technical people working at Avid agree there is very little wrong with Yosemite, and is quite stable, as evident by the few updates they've released (10.10.1), so the question remains - what's the hangup???
I believe this is the longest it's taken to get an update from Avid long after the hardware and OS have been out.
The danger to retrograding to Mavericks is driver compatibility with the latest Mac Pro hardware, which were released after the release of Yosemite.
I know that most people are having few issues with Yosemite and v11.2.2 PT, but it still gives Avid an out if a problem arises. We can't make these kind of investments in multiple machines, and simply stand around and wait for Avid to make up its mind.

Or is Avid just going to bypass v11 and go to v12?

I've had a pleasant experience with PT 11 and Yosemite. I updated the day that the beta was released to developers and haven't experienced any problems that didn't already exist in 10.8 or 10.9

FWIW, I bought a trashcan last month that shipped with Yosemite. I erased the boot drive and cloned Mavericks onto it. Working fine with PT11HD Native.

Same hardware as under Mavericks. You only have to worry when the machine version number changes as they can't be downgraded to previous the previous OS.

Not really that long - Yosemite was released 2 months and a week ago (and is now approved for 11.3). IIRC, it took about 3 months after release before Mavericks was approved. Doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

best,
rich

And don't forget the 10.5 Leopard debacle! That took almost a year... (And I think it was Apple's fault in the end).

Thanks people. v11.3 came out Friday night, after my post. From the bug list it looks like it has many issues with QT and the standalone sound driver. That's fine, we don't use the sound driver anyway.

Been running 11.2.2 on Yosemite and New Mac Pro for about a month now. All has been stable. The heal separation bug being the worst of it (but that exists on Mavericks as well)

An hour of fiddling and opening up sessions I had worked on with PT11.2.2 and Mavericks has shown me that PT11.3 and Yosemite are working fine.

Thanks for the update Avid!
