Default is it me or PT 11 a step backwards at times?

I hate constant trouble shooting one thing. I wish Pro tools would just work. Sometimes get buggy behavior. My title was in reference to it seems like pro tools takes a while to load and then to shut down> 64 bit I thought this would be smoking but still find issues at times?

Smokin' fast start up but slow shut down, running on a ssd. Can't say it's my biggest concern, considering that the time savings brought by its other features have meant it's paid for itself already. Definitely a forward step.

I own 11, but still work in 10. I suffer some of what you describe and have yet to iron things out to a point where I can work(and trust) in 11

PT 11 was a complete re-write for 64bit OS, so all issues "ironed out" in prior versions do not necessarily carry forward to 11. I'll wait for 11 to mature a bit more, and keep working on my stable/powerful PT9 rigs. (Tempted to move to 10 ONLY for clipgain though ...) My 2 cents!!!

I have both 10 and 11, and even though I'm anxiously awaiting UAD to support Windows AAX, I still do pretty much everything on 11.1.2. No problems other than the crash on autosave bug, for which there is a workaround. That bug existed on 10 anyway.

Makes me happy to have NOT upgraded to PT 11 nor Mavericks.

Despite the issues, I can do things in pt11 that I never would have dreamed of in 10. Things like composing with many VI's and not having to print the audio to work on a different VI etc. I can actually have quite a few going on and some dynamics plugins on them and effects etc.. which really helps me decide on sounds faster.

My home rig is just a native non hd setup on an old 2009 MacBook pro. Pt11 really gave it a new lease on life. It's actually still got the stock 5400 rpm boot drive and I would say it starts up in a 10th of the time (maybe less) than pt 10 does and closes just as fast.

Sorry about the issues you are having but I wanted to add the other side of this. There's even a workaround for the ADC bug with multi out VIs by putting the vi on an audio track and routing the midi from an instrument track to it. This is the worst bug for me and with that workaround (which was posted in the ADc thread) I'm back on track till its fixed.

I'm 100% in HD11 here. Gave up a few plug-ins but gained productivity turnaround.
Increasing memory from 12GB to 24GB made a big difference when using VI's

Still boot with spin-drives although recently changed to Hybrid-7200rpm.
Next boot will be SSD raid zero for capacity with spin-drives for backups.
