Atto/Freeze at startup/933 G4/scsi 64
When I start my machine with my drives off it boots fine. With drives on the machine gives me a buss error crash. I'm using scsi 64 with seagate drives. I'm still running under system 9.2.2 Anyone else with this problem?

You must install the current ATTO OSX drivers and make sure the firmware is current. Also install ATTO's ExpressPCI Configuration tool.

Re: Atto/Freeze at startup/933 G4/scsi 64
Hello,
I just went through hell with my SCSI set up. I was using the ATTO 64 and had the same problem. I went to the SCSI 128 and still had the same problem. I sent my drive to Glyph and they figured it out for me. For some reason or other my terminator that worked fine with OS 9.2.2 did not work with OSX. I did eberything DIGI said and it was tech support that said it sounded like a bad case. Glyph did a low level format and installed a LVD/SE Combination Terminator and all is well. Hope this helps. Re: Atto/Freeze at startup/933 G4/scsi 64
Hi Patman,
I hab exactly the same problem a while ago with the same configuration. Try starting up the external drives after starting up the computer, and then mounting the drives with the Express PCI tool.If this works, do a low-level format of the drives (optimizing for audio). Restart the computer and see if this works. A lot of work! If it doesn't,get a new card from Atto. |

Re: Atto/Freeze at startup/933 G4/scsi 64
Hello,
Did you reinit the drives with Express 2.7 or higher or did you update the drivers? Do you have an active terminator on the last device in each chain? Is the light on the terminator on? You may want to try swapping out SCSI cables and terminators. Any internal SCSI devices on the ATTO card? Also, if you have a lot of USB or Firewire devices connected, try disconnecting some of those devices as a test. I've seen similar problems with too many drivers trying to load at startup. Mike |
