Default Midi Window Issue

This is my week to have silly issues. Usually, when you want to manage midi input, you right-click on the midi and open midi editor. When my problem first started, doing that did nothing. I now at least have it open but it's like it opens a secondary midi screen that only shows on half the screen. In order to get it to look like normal, I right-click on "open in untargeted midi screen." But, when I go to close out of it, it goes back to the half-screen display that I cannot get rid of. How do I get things back to normal where you right click on the midi to open it, do what you need to do, and X out of it? Thanks.
