Default Parawave Rapid VI - Is this the Avenger Competition?

I just came across info on Rapid VI from Parawave. I'd never heard of it until today. But after listening to the audio samples, and looking at some of the features, I wonder if this is taking VPS Avenger head on. Its less expensive and the expansion libraries are about 1/2 the cost of what I've seen so far for Avenger.

Wondered if anyone here knows about Rapid or uses it? Seems pretty powerful. Thoughts?

It's not an Avenger killer on features that's for sure (at least not now). Doesn't expressly say if it does AM or FM like Avenger. It may; would love to see a manual for this one. And that gui strains my eyes but then again I've never been one for bright gui's to begin with.

I do love the price for both the main s/w and expansions and that's where it'll eat Avenger's lunch. I mean - $70 US for expansions for Avenger? Especially when a lot of those don't bring a whole lot to the table in new waveforms/wavetables. I also love it has a demo - wish Falcon did.

Oooohhhh .. sounds very old and I don't think this is a "New" release. Everything about that VI sounds like Spire and not in a good way. Even though the expansions are cheaper than Avengers doesn't make them sound better

I would not recommend this synth to anyone if you don't still live in 2014!

Thanks for your input Christopher. I'm actually not planning to get it, but did fine it interesting. Right now I'm not really needing or wanting to get anything new. I've got plenty to work with as it is. If I can't design good sounds with what I have, then more gear isn't going to make it any better!
