I just voted on the Ideascale page. Logical AND makes the most sense when searching, anyway you look at it.

Re: Search issues in the PT 11 "improved" Workspace
Workspace in 11 is so shockingly bad we bought Soundminer Licenses
It's amazing. A much more logical search system (like PT10), and the ability to highlight, audition, and then drag the specific bit of a long Sound Effect that you need into your timeline without bringing in the whole thing, making sure you haven't dragged it onto of a file, then trimming and placing it. |

Re: Search issues in the PT 11 "improved" Workspace
I use Soundminer for sound effects cutting, but I also use the Workspace quite a lot for other things, especially recycling sounds from other reels. It's not practical for me to scan every reel into a Soundminer database and try to keep it up to date when the Workspace is already doing that perfectly.
Although Soundminer now has a waveform preview column, the one in PT is way faster loading and easier to use visually (in Soundminer using waveform view screws up your layout and takes way longer to load). I can see hundreds of sounds at a glance and get a sense of which ones to audition without having to read through all the descriptions. But now the search function is essentially broken which is a huge bummer.

Re: Search issues in the PT 11 "improved" Workspace
Regarding Pro Tools and Soundminer, I've compared PT 11.3 to 11.0.2 to 10.3.9 to Soundminer. I have to say that PT 11.0.2 casts too narrow a net in the search. PT 11.3 casts too wide a net. Comparing PT 10 to Soundminer, PT10 outperforms the Soundminer search engine. It would be very nice to get PT 11 to perform simple (and advanced) Boolean search commands (similar to PT10 in the simple search aspect).
To start, simply reverting the search logic in PT 11 back to the way PT 10 worked would be great. Then, adding the AND and OR logic would be great. Lastly, adding Advanced Boolean search logic would make the workspace such a powerful search engine. |

Re: Search issues in the PT 11 "improved" Workspace
IdeaScale status has changed from "Active" to "In Review" last week.
But yesterday changed to "Active"... Why? |
