Default new PT 8.04 install on Win7 64bit

Hey guys, I just finished installing Windows 7 64bit and need to reinstall Pro Tools 8.0.4. I remember there being a Win7 optimization thread here somewhere but I can't seem to find it... it seems that most threads have turned into PT9 threads. Could someone give me a link to that thread? Also, do I install 8.0.0 first, then 8.0.3, then 8.0.4 ? or do I go from 8.0.0 to 8.0.4 ? Any help would great.

Installation Instructions

The download on this page is an updater. You must have Pro Tools LE 8.0, 8.0.1 or 8.0.3 (or any CS releases for those versions) already installed on your computer to use this updater.
Download the Pro Tools 8.0.4 Updater from this page
Verify that Pro Tools 8.0-8.0.3 is already installed on your system
Launch the Pro Tools 8.0.4 Updater and follow onscreen instructions

Caution: When installing a version prior to Pro Tools 8.0.4 on a Windows 7 machine, DO NOT plug in your LE device when the installer instructs you to do so. This could cause installation errors. Users should install Pro Tools LE 8.0.x without their device plugged in, then use the 8.0.4 updater and follow onscreen instructions, plugging in their LE peripheral when instructed.

Optimization Guide: http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...p?DocId=349411

I dont do all the optimizations myself, I leave Areo and Cleartype on. I leave DEP on. I leave Indexing on. and I leave on board audio on.

And you can always come here: http://www.avid.com/US/support/customer-assist
And choose an interface, (they dont have 11R at the moment, but that doesnt matter) chose any one, go to the SYSTEM SETUP tab, and watch the Windows 7 videos.

install update: everything went smoothly, didn't plug in the 11r until 8.0.4, went thru the win7 optimizations, installed plugins and iLok drivers. I've opened several session and everything plays and sounds great. Now I just need to remember the changes to the settings inside Pro Tools. It will be interesting to see if PT runs smoother/faster with win7... not that I had many problems with xp ( I don't go plugin/loop-crazy).

Thanx again Benoni, you really should be an honorary Avid employee with all the folks you've helped on this forum.

cheers
