Default Most favorite plugins in the world, ever

Hi all

If you had the funds to invest in a handful of ultimate plugins, what would they be? I figure if I'm going to spend on gear, I'd want it to be the best I could get so I'm not tempted to 1) always wonder what could have been if only I'd splashed out a little more, or 2) want to sell it after a couple of months to upgrade. So, an EQ, a comp, a verb and an "effect" (delay, maximiser, mastering suite, whatever...). One of each, but which is the best?

Cheers
Sparks

EQ - URS N and N12
Comp - UAD 1176LN ( TDM but available in UAD1)
Reverb - TL Space
Delay - Echoboy by Soundtoys.

If I lost an iLok, and had to repurchase, I would be happy with only these.

EQ/Dynamics/Comp: McDSP Classic Pack (CompressorBank, FilterBank, Mc2000, Analog Channel)

Verb: Waves IR-1

Mastering Tools: Waves Masters Bundle (L2 and L3 especially)

Delay: Haven't found one for RTAS that I love yet. I thought Echoboy was TDM only? If that's not the case, I'll grab one post haste

EJ - Check HERE

"Plug-In Power
EchoBoy is a software plug-in for Pro Tools, and requires a Pro Tools | LE or Pro Tools | HD system. It's got real TDM support (not HTDM). Pro Tools Mix cards not supported. Sample rates up to 48 kHz - 96 kHz support coming soon (at no extra cost). "

I used it with LE before I got HD. It was on special for $200. Sucker.

Bugger.

I thought perhaps there were a few universally(?) saught after plugins that everyone drooled over. But, as with all else in the sound world, everyone has their own "must have" items.

I've heard the Sony boys have something special, and the McDSP bods are onto a winner, but not which is subjectively better. Is it a case of all products at the top level will be darn good, with only personal preference / music styles being the deciding factor? Like mics... and pre's... and outboard...

and amps...

and monitors...

and chairs...

and coffee...

?

No-one going to say definitive?

Anyhoo, guess I'll just have to save for them all! Will see what's on offer over the next few weeks, take a listen to some demos. At least I'm in the right ball-park with the list so far.

Cheers
