Default URS Classic Console Upgrade

I got the MP4 and love the N Series EQ.

Has anyone upgraded to the console eq?

What does it offer above the graphic version?

Regards

try the demos and you'll know why it's hard to justify not buying...

Not really. I tried them all out and only ended up buying the S and Mix EQ package. I later bought MP4 and I'm glad it came with the API/Neve graphics, because I like those a LOT more than the "console" versions, if nothing else for the ease of use.

The "console" versions of the API and Neve EQ's were close to useless because of the horrible user interface.

Thanks Chris, that's interesting input.

I had already downloaded the demos anyway but there has been a delay on the ilok assets so I haven't had a chance to evaluate.

Interesting. I have never heard complaints about this before...

I've read a few comments that share my opinion. Who knows, perhaps people are too busy oogling the "real" look of Neve/API on the desktop instead of actually trying to USE the suckers.

Unless URS changed something, their frequency selection, rotation-only knob control, and generally SMALL interface completely turned me off.

Like I said, though, I like the SSL, Mix, and graphic EQ's.

Maybe it's just me... but I have absolutely no problem using those. I mean, I usually just select a frequency and then do a rough wrist-twist for gain to hear the results I want, and then I dial the exact gain amount by keyboard.

Visually knobs that rotate give me more feedback than left-right (or up-down) linear knobs, so I'm actually happy with it. Plus, you can operate them with a scroll-wheel mouse

I see what you mean Chris, it does seem a bit clumsy to me also.
