003r to headphone amp
Yes I know its me again but I cant find this question in the forums but I want 2 hook up my 003r to my 4 channel headphone amp so that 1 set of headphones can go to the vocal booth 1 set for the conrol room (which i toggle back and forth from the monitors to the headphones for reference) and the other 2 sets just incase some1 wants to listen to the session also. Should I connect it to my alt monitoring, my outputs whats the best way for my needs?

There are a few ways to do it so you may want to experiment. I feed the main outs to a Presonus Central Station and that sends the same signal to my Behringer HA4700. I also have outputs 7&8 going to a TRS plug that I can patch to any of the 4 sections of the headphone amp so someone can have "more me" if they need it. Before I got the Central Station, I ran a TRS to quarter inchx2(standard insert type cable-stereo plug on one end and 2 mono plugs on the other end) right into the headphone amp inputs.

So lemme see if i got this straight, i should have 2 mono 1/4 in plugs going from my main monitor outputs from the 003r going into the inputs on my amp? Then should i plug my monitors in my alt mon?

Hi, I've done a similar trick with insert leads. You can use pairs of outputs to send to your headphone amp. Your studio monitors can stay on outputs 1-2.
You can send from any channel to a hardware output and create as many headphone mixes as you've got spare sends. You can show small faders for one send in each A-E or F-J group so that's really useful too. If you buss your send first into an AUX, you can listen in to what they are hearing. Remember to set your sends to PRE fade. Hope that helps!

Re: 003r to headphone amp
excuse me, I have a question about this last post
I'm thinkling about buyng a 003 and what stops me is the (non)ability to create 4 different cue mixes for musicians the routing you describe is the standard way an in-line hardware mixer is set-up but does this work in protools LE? I mean, you should havesome latency problems: the low latency monitoring option should not let you route signals to aux sends (does it?), so if you turn off low latency you... well, get latency! thanks a lot Lorenzo |

If mono mixes are adequate(and should be) then a powerhouse computer will solve that issue. My system below will roll 48 tracks with some plugins at the 64 buffer setting so I can use aux sends to analog outputs if I need extra mixes. The latency at 64 is (IMHO) a non-issue(many folks run at 128 and don't mind the tiny latency at that setting either).
