horrible shortcut, no use for it, common digi let us have the chance to "lock" Y (or in germayn Z) like we can lock the "shuffle" mode!

(and by the way, let us lock the "loop" function, too.)

and I would also vote for customizable keyboard shortcuts in ProTools 8.
Also, DIGI should make a preference option "Use Standard ProTools key commands" versus "Use customized key commands". So everyone could create their own commands (just like it is possible with many other programs out there). Freelancers who work on a rig they don not know could just hit the "standard option" and they're set. Or they bring in their on commands as a xml file and import it.

Thanks guys! Now I feel like a real idiot. OSX's been offering me all these cool things I don't use. And how many years have I been on Pro Tools OSX? Ouch.

Custom key commands, here I come!!!!

So Pascal, now that I have recommended this technique, I can't seem to make it work on my system

What's the trick? I've tried typing in various menu commands but nada.

Some insight would be greatly appreciated.
I use this trick to create many of the shortcuts that I can't remember or use key combinations (like import Video and show workspace) I also have the Small X-Keys keyboard ( X-Keys Desktop Model ) that maps these shortcuts with iKey ( I use a combination of iKey and Apple's Keyboard shortcuts) Then I print little key caps to put under the keytops to remind me what is what. I now cannot work on a system without it.
Here is a picture of My X Keys layout. It really does help productivity. It also allows you to share keys maps with other systems, something that is not possible with the Apple keyboard utility.

Hope this is a help.
