I want to open a Pro Tools (version) 5.1 session in PT11?
I want to open a Pro Tools (version) 5.1 session in Pro Tools 11. How can I do it. I have browsed on Pro Tools forums and the only advice I have found is to use the Save Session Copy option in the file menu. I don't really know if I'm doing it correctly. I open the session in Pro Tools 5.1 (on a Mac), I Save Session Copy to my desktop where it appears as Copy(name of session)' I then copy it to a USB stick and transfer it to a PC which has Pro Tools 11. I try to open but it isn't a recognized file. Can you help me please?

Re: I want to open a Pro Tools (version) 5.1 session in PT11?
2 details you need to hit while you are re-saving on the old Mac. #1-check the box for Enforce PC/Mac compatibilty. #2-save all audio files as .WAV(the audio is likely in SD II format, which Windows cannot read).
While you have the sessions open on the Mac, do a few other things to CYA. #1-consolidate all audio so each track is a continuous file. #2-from the Regions bin, highlight all the tracks in the EDIT window(they will all be highlighted in the Regions bin now) and Export Regions as Files(and export them as wave or AIFF so the Windows system can read them).I would create a folder on the desktop for each song, and export the audio files to these folders, and copy them to any external drive for transfer. By doing this, you can(on the PT11 system) simply create a new session and import the audio(which is likely all you REALLY need).
