What encoder settings have you found work best, if you don't mind? My clients usually send H264 and I transcode to DNxHD, but still have this issue from time to time.

I used to use DNxHD, but since support for HR i've moved to that.

Thanks... so you haven't found a diff between the 4:4:, 10 bit, 8 bit, etc options? They all seem ok?

I'm going to try some options tonight and see if tomorrow goes more smoothly.

The other options just change quality, and therefore size. Since I don't need a perfect HD copy to run in protools, I use the codec that makes the smallest file.

I use 36Mbit / 8-bit.

Thanks everyone! the avid DNxHR helps a lot, a big noticeable difference, still a little bit of a delay - definitely not as quick as it is without having a video in the session,

im using pt 12.6, latest sierra, latest BM thunderbolt and desktop video software...

hoping this improves in the next update!
