Default Up/crossgrading from PT 12.4

Hello.

I have PT 12.4, which I bought outright some years ago, and for which I have no subscription, support contract or anything. I am currently running Win7, but the time has come to upgrade to Win10.

However, I don't know the best way to proceed with up- or cross-grading my version of Pro Tools. I've had a quick look on the Avid store and found the following:

https://shop.avid.com/ccrz__ProductD...&sku=DYNA00000

Could someone confirm I'm looking at the right page, and that paying for this will mean I can then upgrade PT and then Windows? If the best thing to do is to pay for and raise an Avid support ticket, then I'm happy to do that, but I thought I'd ask here first!

Thanks

Henry

The link you posted will let you convert your current perpetual license to a subscription plan, meaning you will lose your access to pro tools completely if you stop subscribing in the future.
Your current perpetual 12.4 license will no longer work.
Since Avid discontinued their reinstatement plans on the 31st of December last year, I don't think you have any way of upgrading your license other than cross grading to a subscription, or buying a completely new pro tools license.

That is correct BUT you can still look at dealers like sweetwater and GC and Vintage King etc if they still have a reinstatement plan license as the dealers who have stock are allowed to seelm their stock even though Avid has stopped the reinstatement plans as of Dec 31st 2019 as stated above by lae777.

Or, if you don't want to spend money and are happy with PT 12.4 for the foreseeable future, either image or clone your drive and in-situ go from W7 to W10 or do a clean install of W10 and all your programs. Make sure you image or clone your OS drive first so you can go back to W7 "painlessly". Personally, I recommend Macrium Reflect, there are others too.

Thanks everyone! Really helpful.

I've found this online - is it the 'Reinstatement plan' referred to above?

https://www.andertons.co.uk/avid-pro...-9935-66070-00

I initially thought it was, but then spotted it says "Upgrades to version 12.4 from version 11 or above"...

I already have 12.4... But would this then allow me to upgrade to the latest version?

Still a bit confused.

No

This is a reinstatement license for lapsed plans like you have

https://www.andertons.co.uk/avid-pro...-9935-66087-00

As stated in post #1 your plan has lapsed some time ago so this would be what you need to get to the latest version plus 1 year support which is included along with plugins etc. Not the one you linked to as this is a $299 price and the link you posted is for active plans.
