Default Understanding exactly how upgrade works

Hello guys,

I'm new here. I'd rather send this message to avid via support but I couldn't find a way to do this.

I don't know why (maybe because English is not my first language) but lots of points are not clear to me.

I own a PT 10/11 license (not HD) and I'd like to upgrade to PT 12.

Here are my questions:

1-) If I commit to the annual upgrade plan ($ 199) my existing PT 10/11 licenses will stop working? What if after that one year I don't pay again? Will PT 10/11 stop working for me?

2-) If I commit to the annual upgrade plan ($ 199), I'll be able to use PT 12 only as long as I pay the annual plan? What if after one year I don't pay again?

I'm asking this because, either I commit to this plan or I buy a new license just not to run the risk of my software stop working.

Can anybody help me?

Regards,

1) As of now installing PT 12 removes PT 11 and PT 10 from your computer. If you commit to the upgrade plan and go to 12, if you don't purchase another upgrade ($199) PT 12 will still work until your operating system is no longer compatible with it. After 12 the next upgrades will be 2016, 2017, etc.

2) You will be able to use PT 12 until your OS is no longer compatible with it. The ONLY way your software would stop working is if you rent it, either monthly or annually and you don't pay when the rental period is finished. However, you can just purchase another rental period.

Just to be clear, when a monthly subscription lapses, your revert back to your last perpetual license. Yes?

1-) So, there's no way to have multiple versions installed as I have now (10/11)?

2-) But this (http://shop.avid.com/ccrz__ProductDe...03&&store=shop) is a rent or an update? If I buy this it'll stop working in case I don't pay again in 2016?

What if I buy another license? A PT 12 brand new license? Will I be able to use 10/11 and 12 in the same computer and in the same ilok.

Thanks for the help.

Now, that's a good question Park. As I understand it as of now, if you install PT12 it wipes 11 off the machine. So, that would seem to be a 'no'.

But you get a 10,11 and 12 software bundle when upgrading to PT12. So you still have 11.

What if you just buy the rental?

Good question. I would assume you would have the app still on your computer but not the license on iLok to run an expired subscription.
