Recommended Procedure - HD2 to HDX Upgrade
I just received my HDX upgrade package. I am looking for the recommend steps to make the upgrade from the DUC members that have made the upgrade successfully.
I am currently running PT HD 8.0 on a 4,1 Mac Pro with 16 G Ram and OS 10.6.2. Hardware consists of a C24 and two 96 I/Os. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I apologize if this If this topic has been covered previously. |

Re: Recommended Procedure - HD2 to HDX Upgrade
While I don't specifically use HDX, there are general principles to follow. Mainly, do a complete uninstall of HD8, as it's not needed because HD11/10 is a full installer.

Re: Recommended Procedure - HD2 to HDX Upgrade
Do a complete hard drive format, because HD10/11 won't love that 10.6.2 you're using...

Re: Recommended Procedure - HD2 to HDX Upgrade
Actually you're going to need a minimum of OSX 10.8.4 with PT11.1.2 according to Avid specs.

Re: Recommended Procedure - HD2 to HDX Upgrade
10.8.4 added tons of efficiency to PT. I don't know why but it did. Everything ran smoother

Re: Recommended Procedure - HD2 to HDX Upgrade
Wish I had gotten here sooner. I would not have updated or done anything to the system drive. Instead, I would have removed it and started fresh with a blank drive. That way, if anything goes sour with the update, you COULD have re-installed the old drive and HD cards to get work done. Now, you are committed to the new rig. Fingers crossed that all goes well
