Default PT Beach Ball, Crash

Hello,

I am asking for information regarding the following crash:

PT 8.0 HD Accel 3 Power Mac G4 1.25 g ram

Waves, Reason 4 (I have checked all plugin's compatibility)

I am in punch record. The situation appears to be happening simultaneously with the auto save feature, as the three times it has happened this week, the last session file backup is 5 minutes before the crash.

I will do a record pass, and hit the space bar to stop the transport. I get a beach ball then protools unexpectedly quits. The audio file I was recording gets written to the audio files folder, but when you reopen the session it is only as new as the last save.

I also wonder if the low ram in the system may be causing the issue. I ordered a new 1 gig chip, which will bring the system to 2 gigs of ram.

I suspect it has to do with ram because thats where reason lives and I was warned that PT8 calls for a lot of ram.

I lost a killer bass take last night and losing it really let me down.

Any thoughts?

thanks,
Keny
