Default "Best" DAW Control Surface

Hello!
What would be the best DAW control surface to use with PT? I realize that this is an extremely broad question so ideally I am looking for a controller with app. 24 faders, ideally you would be able to control some plug in stuff on the surface as well (EQ, compressor, etc. depending on the plug in of course). I was thinking about C24 - I guess that this control surface ideally fits the requirement, but I am really really sceptical about buying this particular controller because (1) it's "old" and (2) I have a really weird feeling that Avid will only push the Euphonix part forward leaving the C24 to go EOL. Okay I realize that the next PT will still support C24 but still...
So any other alternatives?
Cheers!

The older Control 24 is old. The new C24 is only 3-4 years old and hopefully will be supported for a few more years. The C24 is kind of hard to beat in my opinion.

You're all probably gonna laugh at me... but I own 2 original Mackie HUI control surfaces, still running like they were brand new on both my LE and HD rig. I simply love them.
