Protools 10 (Windows 7 64bit) Launch Issue

I just got Protools 10 today and its crashing upon launching. For a split second I can see that it would crash as soon as an AIR plugin would attempt to load.

So I tried to go to the plugins folder and removed all the AIR plugins (Which sucks). I did this just to see if it would work but no luck. It would freeze on any plugin loading. I even temporarily removed all my 3rd party plugins and that has nothing to do with the crashing issue.

My computer is running off of Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with service pack 1 like Avid recommends. I had ZERO issues with Protools 9 so even though I purchased Protools 10 I have to go back to version 9 because I have sessions to work on with clients tonight.

PLEASE ADVISE US FOR ANY NEW TIPS TO FIX THIS ISSUE!!!

Hey Alex, I guess you don't keep imagines or clones. Do you use partitions? Can you reinstall Windows? Did you only install Pro Tools 10?

Did you install PT10 over top of PT9?

It seems most of the people with issues didn't uninstall PT9 first. At the very least I would try uninstalling (CLEAN) and reinstalling.

It doesnt allow you to install protools 10 over 9. So I had to uninstall protools 9 before anything. I also uninstalled my music production toolkit 2 that worked with protools 9 since I was reading it is not compatible (Which sucks cuz I just bought it last year).

The MPTK doesn't really do anything for PT9. All it does is give you the plugins it initially came with. There are no added features from it for PT9 or 10.

It gave me the full version of structure which I liked enough to not want to get rid of it. But your right besides that. It was just the fact that i spent money on it for PT8 and since it was a recent purchase at that time AVID allowed me to use the virtual instruments for PT9 with an update.

If you still have the Structure license on your iLok, then Structure should open up as normal in PT10.

MPKT offered Structure LE IIRC.

I can offer a tip that has worked for me.

1. Move all of your third party plug-ins into the disabled folder
2. Uninstall Pro Tools entirely including preferences
3. Make certain the plug-ins folder is empty
4. Reinstall Pro Tools
5. Launch Pro Tools for the first time without any plugs that it didn't just install
6. Move the rest of your plugs back into the plug-in folder
