Apologies for my stupid question. But I am about to rack mount my HDIO interfaces vertically.

Are you saying the fan should be facing the floor of the rack unit? Presumably the front mounted power switch would also be at the bottom and the input/output section lights would be at the very top of the vertically mounted interface?

Thanks for your help, I just got a bit confused because heat rises and I thought maybe the fans blowing out the heat would get too hot facing the bottom, maybe I got this wrong..

Robert

I believed (perhaps incorrectly) that they pull in fresh air.....

This could well be the case.

Anyone else know the answer to this?

The way to get it answered is ask someone who has an active plan...

Then start a support case so you can ask Avid directly

I will look at the manual as well later on

Mine pushes air air from right (Meter side) exits left.
Just keep air vents available (in and out)

I Think you're right.

I have 2 avid pres as well and they dont seem to have fans in them and get very hot after a while of use so its probably best to mount them horizontally as I could just out those there instead of the avid hdio's but think the interfaces would be better next to the mac anyhow.
