Default PTHD losing communication with my Blue Sync I/O HD

I'm posting this here, because I don't know whether my Sync I/O HD hardware is having problems or if my latest update to 12.8.3 software is creating some new problem. My HDX card is quite intermittently losing communication with my Blue Sync I/O HD.

Hmmm.

I'm on a Mac "cheese grate" Pro, with a single HDX card. It seems only recently that I've been getting this intermittent problem, and since I just replaced the cable, I'm now wondering about the "Blue" Sync I/O HD. I'll have to check the compatibility chart...and I'll search for a firmware update or something.

I've reinstalled ProTools HD and the PTHD Driver.

I'm posting in the hopes that someone else might be experiencing this, too.

Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions.

Yes! I am experiencing this. Was intermittent, now I've lost it altogether.

I should note that my signature system is wrong, I'm running OS 10.13.2, PT 12.8.3. The problems definitely JUST started with 12.8.3 and High Sierra.

Can someone tell me how to edit that damn signature?!?!

Problem solved on my end. The adapter cable from the peripheral out of the HDIO that connects with the cable to the legacy (missing) IO had pulled apart. How does this happen??? It’s funny how we assume things never move, but they do.

Phil, thanks for chiming in.

My situation is very close to yours, although I'm still on Sierra. Yes, it's entirely intermittent on my end. Didn't work yesterday. Came in today, working fine.

I'm confused as to which cable you're talking about that went bad on you. Can you explain that one more time?

Thanks again,

John

Hey John,

For reasons I can't remember, there is a cable from the HDIO legacy output that adapts to another cable that completes the run to the 192IO. I have no idea why this isn't a continuous cable, it's been too many years, but when I started digging around back there I found it, and it had come loose, almost undone. I'm not even in earthquake country like you! Anyway, that's what it was for me. Good luck.
