Default Changing channel order in bounced files.

I was wonder if there was any way you folks knew of to change the channel order of the files bounced from ProToolsHD.

I'm using WinXP and ProTools 7.2 and no matter what I set my "5.1 Default Path Order" to the files will allways be L C R Ls Rs Lfe (Film)

I'm using a converter that require my files to be L R C Lfe Ls Rs (SMPTE/ITU), and it does not handle multiple mono files.

Does anybody know of a way to make the files export in another order then the default one, or can anyone recommend a program I can use to remap the channel order of the files.

Any comment and help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. The programmer I'm working with said this wouldn't be a problem if ProTools used the WAVE_FORMAT_EXTENSIBLE which contains definitions on which channel is which.

Hey Jon

1. Make a new bounce - but this time bounce it as seperate mono files and import them again when you bounce.
2. Make 6 mono audio tracks.
3. Drag in the files ONE BY ONE (very important!) in the order you need.
4. Make a 6 channel audio track.
5. Mark all the 6 mono regions - and drag them to the 6 channel track.
6. CONSOLIDATE (very important!) the 6 channel region - don't bounce again.
7. Export the file - and now it keeps the channel order.

Regards

Thanks Michael -Z

This really helps me alot.

But I think Digidesign should think about adding an option to export the files in the "proper" Microsoft channel order (L R C Lfe Ls Rs) or add support for WAVE-EX

But, thanks again.

I agree Jon...

But I dont think that Digi care much about the game business.

Not a big market?

;-)

Just a side note: a business/investor friend who follows this stuff mentioned to me, at least 5 or 10 years ago, that worldwide gross game sales surpassed worldwide gross movie sales. Considering the expense of movies, I intuit that it would be even more so for net sales.

So if Digidesign is not caring much about the game sound market, they do so at their peril.
