Default Carbon Optical input spdif not detected

I am trying to archive a DAT tape using Pro Tools Carbon but I am getting no sound.

I have the DAT machine's digital output connected to the Carbon via an SPDIF coaxial to optical converter.Pro Tools clock is set to external adat reserved 1-28.
In the Pro Tools Hardware Setup>Optical I/O settings>Optical In Format (Detected) adat ports 1 and 2 show N/A.

I have had it workingin the past. I don't know what it's not working now.
Can anyone help please?

Shooting in the dark here but I believe some DAT machines only spit out clock when they’re actually playing something. Are you setting up everything while signal is coming from the DAT, or is the machine at stop?

Digi gear in the past has been hinky playing nice with some DAT machines. (Panasonic I think but I could be remembering wrong).

Is the sample rate of your PT session the same as what’s coming from the DAT?

Indeed. Do you know the sample rate/bit depth of the DAT tape (get the player to display that if possible). And is that set correct. Don't assume it has to be 48kHz. For example a 32 kHz DAT is not going to be readable on a Carbon since it does not support 32kHz S/PDIF.
