Default Profire 2626 review

Sooooo,
anyone who is using it, any good? How are the pre's?
Im in a debate between an Apogee, Onyx or a Profire 2626. yes, apogee redonkulously expensive but worth it but i'm trying to find the happy medium that isn't crappy.
I'm trying to expand for 8 analogs channels to mike a drumkit since my 003r only has the 4 XLR in.

I have the 2626. The pres are solid transparent gain. No mojo, what you put in is what comes out, period. That being said, id rather have drums tracked thru this pre in a great room with a good drummer and proper mic technique than killer pres and everything else wrong. At least they don't sound bad.

I've been pretty happy with the 2626 so far and so have lots of clients also...they,as any pres,do have the limitations but they are transparent and do have a lot of headroom.I use a tube preamp/compressor for vocals and bass guitar but that is my preference. The local recording guys were amazed at the quality of the recordings I have brought to them and one even bought one(or two daisy chained)for his own home studio!!!

No problems so far with that interface! Very flexible and easy to use, nice mixer and setting interface. Keep in mind that you can disable ins and outs in the ProFire2626 settings to decrease firewire traffic!

The only negativ point, for me, is the knob design.
Almost unreadable in dark situations.
