Default Mix bus help!

Is there any difference between mixing internaly to pro tools and mixing in subgroups and then output the subgroups to 16 direct outputs from pro tools to a high quality line mixer? The problem of the bad sounding pro tools mixer remains if you mix in 8 stereo subgroups??

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Unless you have a *stellar* line mixer,
I can't imagine doing a D/A out of PT
to a line mixer is going to sound superior.

Now if you have a good quality digital mixer,
that might be another story.

To answer your question, the outputs will go through the PT mixer.

Thanks Tech
I am thinking of using a Manley or Millenia
line mixer to get a fuller sound instead of mixing internal to protools. What about mix headroom?
