ProTools 12.6 "closing session"
Takes 10 minutes to close a session !! Can we start with this issue.
WHY would it take 10 minutes to close a session? And... any action I attempt gets me "pro tools not responding" I think this new laptop should be able to handle PT?? My desktop PC and desktop Mac work fine. New laptop Dell Inspiron Windows 10 12g ram 512g solid state drive 2.7ghz I even took new laptop back to Best Buy and they re-set everything... I am having nothing but problems with PT12.6 on this laptop. Cannot do any work AT ALL. Keep getting AAE 9173 message. "remove native plug-ins" AVID's support is non-existent without a fee. |

Re: ProTools 12.6 "closing session"
My first guess is that a plugin being used in your session is not playing nice with Pro Tools and your computer - probably also what's making it take so long to shut down. I'd start disabling or removing plugins to try to figure out which one is causing the problem.

Re: ProTools 12.6 "closing session"
Same issue here on a desktop PC, I stop the run by the task manager when PT 12.8.1 is closing ... else it stays in 'no response mode' but I never tried to waiting for 10 minutes !!!

Re: ProTools 12.6 "closing session"
I'm having this issue from time to time, too. Trashing prefs seems to fix it for a while - then it reappears on some other session a week or two later. I'm on 12.8.1, Windows 10 Pro (latest update), and I've had it for a few of the latest versions (don't recall when it started). The first fix I got working was based on advice from Avid support, where I would create a new session and Import Session Data from the problematic session. This worked, but since then the issue has re-surfaced with other sessions. (Happy to share details of this fix if anyone wants it.)
In my case it usually starts with a very slow opening of a session, and when launching performance monitor I see the overall CPU load hitting max (red) with all of my 8 cores pretty low otherwise. When I see that, I know I just have to kill PT, trash prefs, and reboot. Hope this gets sorted out soon. Trying to close the session would just be a waste of time - it can take 30 minutes. |
