Why does my Mac Laptop runs hot really quickly while running Pro Tools 12.5? & also is there anyway to stop it?

Thanks in advance.

My Macbook Pro Retina runs hot as hell all the time. Its a apple problem and seems to be more affected by graphics. I dont think PT is the issue. You will need to keep it in a cradle and not your lap. I complained to apple and they didnt give a ****. All my cores were running at 100C and they said that is normal and not have it on my laptop. Lame response. Which macbook exactly? I finally ditched the MBPro for a Mac Pro in my home studio and happier for it.

Those run super hot. Known issue. Whole slew of side mount holders like clutch cooler. There are some things you can google to try to tame it but mainly it will trigger more with intense graphics. Mine gets really hot then.

Actually is also protools that uses way too much GPU, tried same sessions with DP9 and Logic and protools is always the worst, and its been like that since PT11, PT10 had better GPU performance.

I posted about this a while ago... you may find my post of interest

Also I had the chance of trying an EXTERNAL GPU with 2 monitors connected through thunderbolt and it proved that having The GPU external the macbook run way cooler and totally quiet until you pushed the cpu to its extremes.

Mine runs hot also. Things that help are:

Lowering the screen brightness
Closing unused programs
I use SMC fan control all the time, Find a custom setting that works for you without being too loud. (Im assuming your gear has a fan).
