Pro Tools 10 TDM Distortion / Digital noise
We've upgraded all our studios to PT12 and I've set up one of our old ProTools 10 HD TDM systems at home. I'm not sure what happened on the drive home but I've set it all up and I'm getting terrible distortion from any audio I playback which cuts in and out with silence every second for so. I also noticed none of the virtual instruments work although they appear to load ok. I'm guessing it's something to do with the TDM card because if I launch ProTools with the Mac's audio I/O. It seems to work perfectly.
Any ideas anyone ?? Thanks ! So it's a Mac pro with 16Gb of RAM with Protools TDM HD2 cards running PT 10HD. going into a 192.

Re: Pro Tools 10 TDM Distortion / Digital noise
Try re-seating the cards and make sure the ribbon is connected properly. If that doesn't help, try juggling the digilink cable connector on both ends and see if it goes away.
Those two are the most likely problems, in case everything was working well the day before. Sometimes when cards and cables have sat down on one place for years, the connectors get used to where they were, and you don't need to shake the box much to move something just a little.

Re: Pro Tools 10 TDM Distortion / Digital noise
I did try that and as as well as removing the accel card . I'll give is another shot later though as what your saying makes a lot sense. I'll try a spare core card too.
Thanks !

Third possibility is that some card in your interface has gotten loose...

Pro Tools 10 TDM Distortion / Digital noise
First thing I would try is bringing in a different interface box from another system and see if the 192 is the problem.
Well make that second, after running Digitest first. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

What version of OSX?
Start with just the core card and see if it happens with only it in the MaxPro.. Make sure your Digilink cable is plugged in properly on both sides. Report back what your Digitest results were.
