Default Digi 003 rack compatibility with current Apple products

I have a Digi 003 rack and an old iMac v. 10.6.8, with ProTools LE v 8.0.5. I may soon be getting a new Mac product... perhaps a MacBook Pro or another iMac. Can the 003 rack still be used with the latest Mac products? If not, then up to what OS and PT versions can the 003 rack be used, or more specifically, what OS and PT are supported nowadays by Avid? Many thanks...

Yup! I am using my trusty old 003 R+ with a my new iMac. I just recently switched camps from PC to Mac.

It works GREAT through the thunderbolt port.

You'll need the apple adapter (FW 800 to Tbolt). You will also need either a bilingual FW 400 to 800 cable OR a FW 400 to 800 adapter and use the FW 400 cable that you are currently using.

I went through a couple of these 400 to 800 adapters before I found one that worked. Elago FW 400 to 800 Adapter is what I found that worked for me.

Once I had that adapter, I used the original FW cable from the 003 to the Elago adapter, and connected that to the Apple FW800 to Tbolt adapter and connected to the iMac. Works GREAT! Actually I feel it works better (less latency) than it did on Win7.

The one thing that I have found is that I have to boot my computer first, then turn on the 003 or Yosemite doesn't seem to find it. No biggie though.

Of course you'll need to upgrade to PT 10/11/12 to run on Yosemite.

Hope this helps.

Default Digi 003+ Rack and drivers for Yosemite 10.10.3

Please forgive the newbie question. I've just bought a
Digi003+ rack second hand and wanting to use in with Yosemite 10.10.3. The latest drivers are supposed to work with this version:
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/d...02-003-Drivers

There's a signal but it's VERY distorted and quiet.

I've looked over the threads here and people don't seem to think that the 003 will work with Yosemite.

No I don't have a new enough version of Pro Tools yet. Trying to get it to work with other DAWs at the moment.

I'll keep hunting to see whether anyone has got this working on a 10.10.3 or not.

Any clues or wisdom would be helpful.

thanks

Craig

Bob, what version of OS X are you running. I'm trying to get 10.10.3 to work with a 003 R+.

thanks

Yup 10.10.3 It works GREAT! No issues at all. I even have my 11Rack connected to 003+R and have absolutely no issues.
