Default Wow...quiet computer now...

Hi-
So I put together the Allen system with the Thermaltake 9 and a "so called" quiet computer fan...man was it noisy. Anyway, the computer, while working just fine, was way too noisy to handle. I did a little research and found www.endpcnoise.com and took the advice of one of the sales people and changed out my CPU Fan and CPU cooler. The difference is unbelievable!!! If you want to make a dramatic difference in the overall noise level of your Athlon(up to 2800 I believe) system, get these 2 components...you will not be disappointed. I think I paid $55 total for both. Well worth the money. Hope this helps. Matt

PS- Here is the invoice with product spec and price

Quan Item No. Description Price Extension

1 00025 Papst 8412NGL Quiet Case Fan $17.95 $17.95

Cooler to 2800+

yeah. those nexus heatsinks kick butt. i have a nexus 300w power supply too. when i first heard how quiet that thing is, it really freaked me out.

i think those pabst low rpm fans are over priced. you can "7-volt mod" any case fan easily and have it run much quieter. i do this on all my case fans, and it really doesn't raise temps that much. here are 2 different ways to do the 7-volt mod if anyone's interested:

I've been experimenting with quiet computer configs for a while now and I've found the quietest fans to use are Panaflo 80mm. Put a Zalman fan controller on them to lower the voltage to 5v and it is almost inaudible. The Papst fans are cool and I've got a few of them laying around, but they have this weird clicking noise to them that really bothers me. Put a couple Panaflo's and a Nexus power supply and you'll wonder if your computer is even on or not...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">i have 3 panaflos in my rackmount case all at 7v and they're DEAD silent. only my powersupply is loud now. there used to be a 300w fanless powersupply that you mount outside of the case. i should have snagged one when i had the chance.

here's one that looks good if you got the bux...
