Re: AIR Instruments, AAX Status and Upgrade Information
According to a recent thread on Pro Tools Expert in which a high level Avid programmer chimed it, dragging PTIEP takes to the timeline is in fact a Pro Tools 11 issue, not an AIR issue. He didn't make it seem like a tremendously complicated feat of programming, and seemed amicable to adding the feature if enough of us want it ... which we do!

Re: AIR Instruments, AAX Status and Upgrade Information
+1
Dave Tremblay clarified that original drag & drop was some non-standard code to get that close AIR instrument integration in RTAS. He also said only a few plug/VIs were using this feature, and the non-standard way of doing it could create stability issues in the new PT11, so it was not going to be done early on....since stability/performance was the focus there their iterative cycle to finish PT11. That of course meant pairing down certain small-footprint features until later. Dave said drag & drop can be done in PT custom code, or via standard OS API calls or something, and the preferred way was the standard way. So the cobbled/improvised drag & drop does not exist in PT11. Dave said that if they re-implement this feature, it would be done differently and standard so all plug manufacturers could take advantage of it. So he sounded like it was a ways out on their roadmap, but is at least going to be somewhere on the roadmap nevertheless. I agree we should keep giving voice to wanting drag & drop back -- makes a sampling capture workflow much easier. I also think making it so that other samplers like Kontakt can join Structure in offering this feature would be fair too.

Re: AIR Instruments, AAX Status and Upgrade Information
Samara,
Has AIR talked about student pricing for PTIEP and, if so, can you quote it? |

Re: AIR Instruments, AAX Status and Upgrade Information
Hi Samara!
Seeing as you appear to be monitoring this thread currently, are you aware of the question in the other thread regarding access to upgrades to AIEP V2 by users of PTIEP V1 who are not registered with Avid but have purchased an iLok asset? We have speculated as to how AIR would ensure we can also upgrade but would appreciate your confirmation that it its AIR's intention to let these users upgrade too. Thanks! |

New Sequencers
Does this mean we can send MIDI data to Transfuser assigned to a specific module? Will we also be able to send MIDI data FROM Transfuser to another VI or external MIDI instrument? Thanks
