Default audio file slanging

i know that i have top use the disk allocate function to keep pro tool from sending file to different drives. ex . audio 2 drum is on my operating drive c and vox track 3 end up on drive d which i have for pt only. now here the twist im open a session off my usb drive. and i know that i should be recording on a firewire ext. hardrive. but thats what my system do now and im trying to correct it. but i dont fully understand how to tell pt to do this.

Don't really understand your post, but if you are trying to record to an external usb drive, I don't think that is supported. Save a couple of bucks and get Firewire.

USB is not supported. Perhaps import the whole session, files and all, onto your internal recording drive and work from there? Then back it up to the USB drive when you're done. Or even half done! Always backup. Always.
