Default iZotope Insight as VU Meter

Is there a way to make Insight act as a VU meter?

I'm also still a little confused as to the difference between VU / RMS, and when to use each one.

Thanks for any help!

Much better IMO. Cheap too.

As for the 2nd question.... I'll take a stab, someone please correct me where I am wrong.

VU meters are a mechanical magnetic device that shows the preceding 300ms (rise time) of average amplitude. RMS is an equation applied to the Peak amplitude to arrive at an average. Is that right?
