Silly Question Regarding Mac OS
Is it possible to alter the amount of memory allocated to running OS 9.2.2 ?
I expect to receive the usual "are you a moron or something? " chastising but, oh well... next. |

Re: Silly Question Regarding Mac OS
Actually I think it's a good question. I am pretty sure that the Mac OS uses whatever RAM it needs first, then whatever's left can be used for other applications. I've often wondered myself if you could somehow allocate more to the OS, or if it would even be of any benefit.

Re: Silly Question Regarding Mac OS
It’s annoying this, that the os varies in size, is unreliable. And often doesn’t release the memory after you quit programs. Can someone explain?

Re: Silly Question Regarding Mac OS
The OS has priority over ram. As it uses it, Ram becomes fragmentated. Rebooting will restore ram. This is jsut one of many advantages of large amounts of ram in a Mac.
