MBox 2 - Constant white noise on both inputs

Hi,

I've had my Mbox 2 for about 3 years now. It suddenly has started giving me a visible and audible amount of white noise...constantly!!! It started on one of the mic inputs only, then moved over to both. As soon as I arm the record button, I can hear it coming through. When I start recording, you can see a fat square waveform of white noise. If I try and and record (a vocal, for instance), you can see a slight bump where the vocal signal has added to the white noise signal. This has made my Mbox completely unusable.

I use an Mac, but I have also tried it on Winows XP (in bootcamp) and on my laptop (also Windows XP).

I have tried different USB cables.

I've tried in Protools 7.4 (Windows) , Protools 8 (mac) and Logic (Mac).

I've tried the line, DI and XLR inputs on both inputs as well as different jacks and mic leads.

I've also tried it on a clean installation with no extra plugins installed (except the factory ones).

None of this has made any difference.

I'm sure that the Mbox it's self is broken. Does anyone know what might have gone wrong and if its fixable (I don't have a warrenty).
