Default \"Invalid audio volume\" message setting playback

I have Mbox and PTLE 6.1 loaded in XP. I installed a seperate Seagate baracuda drive for the storage drive. I formated it as NTSF.... I can read write to it,, but in protools I get a error box nessage above when i try to set it as a playback or record . It only allows me to set it up for transfer. Why is this? How do I correct.
thanks
