Default Please help! FW400 vs FW800 external / Lacie vs..

I've been having constant 6086, 6093, 6097 errors, mostly telling me to increase or decrease H/W buffer in the playback engine on my G5 dual 2.0. w/ 2 gigs RAM.

I saw a post on DUC about these errors, where the advise was to get an Adaptec PCI card to handle the FW hard drive. If I'm having all of these 6086 and 6093 errors, and losing communication with the 002rack, would moving from a FW400 external drive to a FW800 external drive resolve this issue vs getting an Adaptec PCI FW card for the external drive? My thought is instead of putting $50 into a PCI card, I'd put it into a faster external drive, hoping that the FW800 drive is on a seperate bus from the 002rack. Any advice for a very frustrated newbie?

Also, any advice on FW800 vs FW400 fro PT LE 6.2.2? Will FW800 work? Digi won't say they support it, but I know the readers/contributors of the DUC will know the reality. Any thoughts on a Lacie drive vs OCW?

Thanks in advance!
Pete

Default FW400 vs FW800 please help

Does FW800 work okay with PT LE 6.2.2 running on a G5? I'm hoping to spend the extra money on a 800 external drive vs a FW400 PCI card, which seems to be the solution for all the errors I've been getting on my G5 where apparantly the two FW400 ports are on a shared bus...please let me know if you're using a FW800 drive with success or problems, as Digi will not talk about them accept that they're testing them..

Thanks
Pete
